Metrology
The measure of many things
Metrology has always been the basis of precision manufacture – especially in the manufacture of measuring instruments like theodolites, measuring arms and rotary measuring tables. No one squares the circle better than Polymeca.
Building measuring instruments which can then measure as accurately as possible – that is the ultimate requirement which can be placed on a manufacturing company. Such instruments form the very basis of measurement. Only a very small number of companies manage to achieve this in Europe – or indeed worldwide. It requires constant investment in measurement technology and the complete integration of metrology into the ongoing manufacturing process. Polymeca has integrated a 3D measuring robot with automatic pallet feed in the flexible manufacturing system into the process. We carry out precision measurements with a Leitz PMM 12106. We even have an air-conditioned measurement laboratory with a comprehensive infrastructure available for high-precision measurements. Continuous monitoring of the measurement process means we can recognise changes straight away and put relevant measures for improvement into action. None of these endeavours would be possible without a specific “measurement culture” within the company. At Polymeca this has been shaped through history. Metrology has been our passion since 1921.
